Speen Church of England School has a dedicated and enthusiastic PTA working closely with the teaching staff to fundraise and provide a range of equipment and activities for the children’s benefit – all of which help create a happy and educational environment.
The invaluable contribution of the Association continues to be achieved by a varied programme of social and other events, which include many fundraising opportunities for a number of good causes.
This year, they included:
Our initiatives, such as Footsteps Training, Scooting Courses and Walk to School Day are run by parents and help develop invaluable road awareness skills.
The level of support and dedication given to the school enriches and enhances the life of pupils at the school. The PTA contributes to purchases of equipment such as reading books, workbooks, and electronic media, kitchen and playground equipment etc. Money is also given in funding weekly Music lessons for Year 2 children. PTA funds have also contributed to a number of sporting activities, drama workshops and outings for the children.
Speen Midsummer Ball
The annual Summer Ball organised by the PTA in partnership with the local Pre-School, has become a popular event in the village social calendar. It is well supported by local businesses and suppliers. Each year, the children help with the decorations.
In previous years, profits from the ball have funded a brand new outdoor seating and play area – The Hideaway Corner – a fabulous resource for workshops, the repainting of the school playground markings and replenishment of the library. Last year’s funds were used to build a sensory garden in the playground that the children helped to plant. For more information go to www.speenschoolball.co.uk.
All parents are proudly part of our PTA and the school continually benefits and are very grateful for all their hard work.
