About

Speen Church of England School has a dedicated and enthusiastic PTA working closely with the teaching staff to fundraise and provide a range of equipment and activities for the children’s benefit – all of which help create a happy and educational environment.

The invaluable contribution of the Association continues to be achieved by a varied programme of social and other events, which include many fundraising opportunities for a number of good causes.

This year, they included:

  • November Quiz Night with Fish and Chip Supper
  • Children’s Christmas Craft Fair – always a festive hit
  • The now legendary Speen Safari Supper in March – past and present parents enjoy good food, wine and company at various host houses within the village
  • Speen Midsummer Ball in June – a village social highlight and major fundraiser
  • Children in Need, Sport Relief, Comic Relief and other fundraisers which support local and national charities
  • Speen Fete – the school is proud to play a part at this annual village event in July and grateful for the generous donations made by the Fete Committee to the PTA.
  • School Lottery – a weekly fundraising draw, win up to £25K www.yourschoollottery.co.uk
  • Easyfundraising – once parents sign up donations are made to school when shopping online with several major retailers for no extra cost https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/speen-school-pta/
  • Regular parents and friends of Speen School coffee mornings

Our initiatives, such as Footsteps Training, Scooting Courses and Walk to School Day are run by parents and help develop invaluable road awareness skills.

The level of support and dedication given to the school enriches and enhances the life of pupils at the school. The PTA contributes to purchases of equipment such as reading books, workbooks, and electronic media, kitchen and playground equipment etc. Money is also given in funding weekly Music lessons for Year 2 children.  PTA funds have also contributed to a number of sporting activities, drama workshops and outings for the children.

Speen Midsummer Ball

The annual Summer Ball organised by the PTA in partnership with the local Pre-School, has become a popular event in the village social calendar.  It is well supported by local businesses and suppliers.  Each year, the children help with the decorations.

In previous years, profits from the ball have funded a brand new outdoor seating and play area – The Hideaway Corner – a fabulous resource for  workshops, the repainting of the school playground markings and replenishment of the library.  Last year’s funds were used to build a sensory garden in the playground that the children helped to plant. All parents are proudly part of our PTA  and  the  school continually benefits  and are  very  grateful  for all  their  hard work.
